The art of playing Boccia
Boccia (or Pétanque) is played everywhere in Liguria. You only need a flat, smooth floor area of about 3x 10 meters.
There are very seriously played games. There are even championships.
However, bocce is usually played in a convivial round. Everyone is allowed to play along.
However, he should -at least- know the basic rules:
1. Boccia is played with 8 balls (in two colors) and a small setting ball (Il pallino).
2. Two teams of one to four players each play together.
3. The chosen Pallino thrower throws the ball into the front third of the playing field. He is also allowed to throw the first ball.
4. Then the second team tries to get closer to this ball. Once it has done so, it will resign and it is the opponent’s turn.
5. After each round – all players have played all balls – points are awarded for the individual balls: the team of the next ball to the Pallino receives 1 point. If it even has two or more balls closer than the opponent, it gets two or more points per pass (maximum 6 points per round).
5. The team won, which first scored 13 points.
These are just the basic rules. They may well differ regionally.
But only a few take the game very seriously! And everything is patiently explained to a beginner again and again! Have fun!
Do you know what Pallapugno is?
Pallapugno is a very fast ball game.
It is played in the narrow streets of some Ligurian villages.
Two teams play against each other. They throw a hard ball against a house wall. It must be played back by an opposing player directly to the house wall of the alley. It must not touch the ground, otherwise the other team will receive a point.
In general, the rubber ball is played with the fist (pugno). Therefore, the fist is protected by a bracelet made of wood or leather.
The game can go through the whole village.
Be sure to watch. It’s the toughest sport!
